It is conceivable that the decision to not have Canadian museums named after specific regions or continents is rooted in a desire to avoid the potential implications of grouping diverse countries together under a single label. Doing so may have the unintended consequence of reinforcing power dynamics and perpetuating the oppression of weaker or less influential nations within those regions. As such, Our Canadian institutions may have chosen to refrain from such naming conventions out of a sense of "cultural sensitivity" and a desire to "avoid perpetuating hegemonic structures" that may be present in international relations.
